Juliëtte makes sure everything at Specialspex runs smoothly. She processes orders, helps customers with advice and manages our webshop and social media. Outside of work she likes to be on the field hockey field or is busy with photography.

Optometrist
Gijs is co-founder of Specialspex and an optometrist. During sports he noticed that ordinary glasses often do not work properly. That inspired him to start a specialty store where athletes and professionals can find the right glasses.
Rinse Kijlstra
Optician
Rinse has years of experience in the eyewear industry and specializes in prescription sports and safety eyewear. He knows exactly what features are needed for different sports and work situations.
2020 How it began
Gijs and Rinse know each other from studying optometry and share a passion for sports and good vision. Because suitable solutions for prescription sports and safety glasses were often hard to find, they started Specialspex as a specialist webshop.
2024 new showroom
Due to growth, Specialspex moved to the showroom at Hogewoerd 115, where we have a professional eye measurement room and you can also try on many of our sports and safety glasses.
2026 new webshop
In 2026, we launched a completely revamped webshop. From then on, glasses without prescription can also be ordered online and the assortment continues to grow.
